2016 has been a really beneficial year for Pakistan Cricket. After their disappointing world cup exit, the cricket of Pakistan has seen new advancements, which included International Cricket after almost half a decade. Zimbabwe came to Pakistan for a short limited over series, which brought relief and joy to every Pakistani’s heart. Moreover, in September, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Pakistan will see the introduction of a brand new mega T20 domestic competition by the name of the Pakistan Super League.
The tournament is to feature 5 franchise based teams from the 5 main cities of Pakistan. Peshawar is one of them, and it was bought by Javed Afridi, the CEO of Haier Pakistan. Team Peshawar’s official name in the PSL will be “Peshawar Zalmi”, as revealed last week. Zalmi is the Pashto word for “youth”. The logo and name were unveiled in a heart touching fashion on the 13th of December, by the students of the Army Public School in Peshawar. This was indeed a beautiful gesture by Team Haier and Javed Afridi, one that will surely win alot of fans for their team.
